What a wonderful time!
Each of our cruises has enabled us to meet new people and explore different places in the US in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere. This distinction enables the company to offer all-domestic cruises that visit only U.S. ports of call along both U.S. rivers and coasts. The Line offers over 50 itineraries, which range from 6 to 60 Days in length, and explore in 35 U.S. states.
Great experience
We appreciated the special attention paid to my husband's use of wheelchair. American Harmony's uppermost deck features open-air seating and plenty of viewing space for those who want to take in the sights and sounds of the Columbia and Snake rivers. With a clean and uncluttered layout reminiscent of a modern European river cruise ship, plenty of space is offered for guests looking to relax and enjoy a day of scenic cruising. For us, the combination of plain fun, a really wonderful, engaging staff, the educational excursions, and just seeing a part of the country that was completely new to us, made this a memorable experience. We ended our trip with a New Orleans stay, which really added to all of the above.
I love small ship cruising
I can't rave about the food enough, I loved the 1/2 portions, and no wait to be seated. Tours were fantastic, extremely well put todather. Our cabin was spotless everyday, even a turndown.
I'm looking forward to another cruise on American. One of several small ship lines that has staked out a claim on United States rivers, the Great Lakes and coastal waterways, American Splendor has been sailing the Mississippi since 2012. I would be remiss if I didn’t bring this up. The experience, the atmosphere, and the vibe that the crew created on this cruise were the best we’ve ever experienced on any cruise ship.
Tried my first cruise with ACL this year, the Lower Mississippi cruise itinerary. The other guests were friendly and interesting. The company offers a new fleet of 19 riverboats and small cruise ships, each accommodating just 90 to 180 guests. American is the only cruise line in the world with a fleet of 100% U.S. built & flagged riverboats and small cruise ships. Always, kind, helpful and some even inspiring (server Genie, on Serenade). Our server, Kristy, always went above and beyond to try and make our dining experience a good one.
The Mississippi River cruise that we went on in March of 2024 was outstanding. We started in New Orleans and ended up in Memphis. The ship, our room, the crew, the food, the service, the shore excursions, the evening entertainment, the buses and tour guides, lectures, etc. could not have been better. My wife and I signed up for two more cruises based on our experience on this one. We had not been on a river cruise before and we highly recommend American Cruise Lines.
Comfortable walking shoes, a windbreaker, and light rainwear are also recommended items. Evening attire is always country club casual. Walks ashore led by the ship’s naturalist offer a more rigorous workout. There is no spa or salon, but the reception desk may be able to recommend possibilities to you in ports. It was a fantastic experience and well worth the money. We’ve booked two more cruises with plans for many more.

It is the sister vessel of American Eagle, due to launch in summer 2023. We enjoyed our excursions, and will be taking another cruise in June, our 6th. For example, from the moment we walked on the ship, Alicia, the ship’s Hotel General Manager, greeted us by name, and she was always magically around, making sure that we were delighted in every way.
American Harmony doesn't cater to families with children specifically, and no special areas for kids or teenagers are available onboard. A handful of children might be seen on summer or holiday sailings but, by-and-large, this is a cruise experience geared towards mature adults. All cabins aboard American Harmony offer private balconies and range from 250 to 900 square feet in size.
I learned a lot from very knowledgable guides. Entertainment was professional from very high rated musicians. Thank you for a one of a kind lifetime experience. The organization of signing up to the activities and food was outstanding. Before, during and after the best cruise we've ever taken.
